'Tobacco free' programme boosted by blooms A US hospital is raising awareness about the importance of tobacco free environments by planting flowers. As part of its new "Staying Tobacco Free" programme, Waynesboro Hospital in Pennsylvania has enlisted the help of local schoolchildren to plant flower seeds as a way to address how vital it is to have clean air. It is part of a state-wide initiative to promote tobacco free environments, with the added bonus that the hospital's grounds will look more beautiful, nbc25 reports. Approximately 20 children from the Franklin County Head Start School helped to plant the seeds around Waynesboro Hospital. Tammy Cornman, director of community health for the area, said: "Clean air is really important for everybody and certainly for young growing children. "We want to raise awareness of all people and oftentimes children are good about talking to their parents and their grandparents and so forth, so we want everybody to know about the importance of it." The Large Mixed Flowering Planter from Interflora, a mixture of vibrant foliage and beautiful flowers in a charming basket, makes a wonderful addition to any home - with the added bonus that the Rose and Ivy can be planted outdoors after flowering. |
